Vogue x Fairytales

I do love a good collab. This time I'm not talking brands but rather fashion teaming up with a range of adorable fairytales. Since... Well I can't remember anymore but I've been buying and keeping Vogue Magazines for A LONG time and then recently - I wasn't home - my dearest parents decided I was taking all their attic space in and threw my epic collection away. That was shocking and sad at the same time, still can't believe it. Thank god for the fact that my mom picked some special editions out of the bunch.

Why Vogue you ask?! Well, their inspiration and creativity hits the maximum button every single time if you ask me. There are also other magazines I read (duuuh) such as Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar and Elle. But in some way Vogue's pictures seem always somewhat fairytale like. Who's a greater inspiration than Annie Leibovitz for photographing such things?! None, she's the best. But that's just my two cents. She worked with Vogue but also with Disney and brought fairytales back to life. Breathtaking pictures with an enormous fashion allure. LOVE.IT. Here are some of my choices to drool on and added a little quote from every Disney film I really like.

By the way, seeing those pictures makes you want to watch some Disney films again, right?! What's your all time favorite one? Mine is Aladdin! Maybe a little obvious with Yasmin also having black hair and some southern roots ;-)?!

10 To Remember

After six weeks of lab work (grey squirrel DNA shizzle) in Scotland, I'm almost back home! In the meanwhile I thought it would be fun to give an overview of my favourite outfits that appeared on the blog the past couple of months. In October Dress your Life already turns one! That shit cray. And yes, in case you were wondering, I'm all out of new outfits at the moment. I would wear every single one of them again so that's a good thing, no drastic wardrobe changes every year, just "some" "small" additions.

Stars & Stripes
Checkers & Beige
No snow today
Indian Romance
Gettin' my Christmas on

This wouldn't be a proper overview if I didn't ask my dear readers if they have any favourites. Well do you?

Cheers

Why do I like Rituals?!

Yesterday was the launch of Rituals' biggest Flagship store in the heart of Antwerp. Having no breaks at all - read: not coming out of the house except for finals - I thought what the hell Sabrina, just HAVE ONE. I'm that kind of girl that feels bad and full of guilt when I'm doing something fun during a period where discipline for studying is the greatest of all.

Anywhooo! I don't talk a lot about beauty on the blog, maybe some more? What do you think? 99 % of the time I always stick to my favorite brands and hardly try a new one. Traditional? Maybe. But I do have a range of different brands I use so having 135435461 kind of products that give more or less the same result but just has another name isn't really my cup of tea.

Rituals is one of those pampering brands I absolutely adore. Just only by entering the shop it's like I'm in beauty heaven. It gives a zen-feeling when walking around and it smells SO. GOOD. This Flagshipstore doesn't offer a whole new range of products which they already offered online but it is just much much bigger than the usual Rituals shop. I LIKE. Because most of the time, if there are a lot of people in the shop, I almost feel like a sardine in a box :-).

But but why do I like Rituals?!
  • I'm no coffee-lover AT ALL but when it comes to tea, ahhhhhh. Hammam-Mint and Jasmin Delight are my cup of tea.
  • Last but not least, this one is an absolute recommendation! The Qi - Stress Relief Serum. Last year during second semester it was SO HOT that walking from my exam to the train station, the only thing that came to mind was 'I want to jump in a pool, I want to jump in a pool,...' . When passing the Rituals shop I just had to enter because the temperature inside was bearable. The shopassistent immediately said to me 'Oh, gosh you look stressed and tired'. I thought, okay it's that obvious I look horrible.. She gave me a little of the serum and rubbed it on my wrists and behind my ears and a little bit on my forehead. IT WAS AMAZING. Because of the mint-flavor it completely brings you zen and I didn't feel that hot anymore. It was true magic for me!
Everyone knows what Rituals is of course but in my opinion it was worth mentioning it ;-).

Now some more studying, 5 more days to go!

Glam green & bold blue.

Wearing: s. Oliver sweater / Deep Devotion necklace / H&M top / WE pants / Les Autres pumps (via Torfs)

These pictures make you long for the colder days, no? Ha! I couldn't even write this with a straight face. I know it's boiling in Belgium right now, in Scotland the weather is more modest as always, but I had these pictures laying around on my desktop so this is what you get. Weather appropriate outfit posts are so overrated btw! This blog is all about surprising and living on the edge yo. Oh and maybe a bit about exaggerating on my part.

This matchy-matchy outfit works for me. Did you notice my zebra earrings? I bet you didn't, all camouflaged by my fly umbrella-ella. Maybe I should keep this post short if I want to avoid the did-she-forget-to-take-her-medication vibes among you dearest readers. I think I'm just in a good mood because next week I'm back home after six weeks (minus a short Beyoncé weekend break). To state it with a beautiful Dutch saying: mijn thuis is waar mijn kledingkast staat.

An evening with Ici Paris XL

My mumsie!
Picking out nail polish
Just roll some cotton on the sharp ends of the sticks and you have perfect touch-up tools
I'll spare you the silly pictures with plastic hair net

Every now and then my local Ici Paris XL store organizes special evenings. A while ago I attended a Dior workshop with my darling mum (thank you for sponsoring!) and I wouldn't be a blogger if I hadn't taken pictures to shower you with.

Every good evening starts (and proceeds) with some bubbles of course. After a warm welcome we were guided to our first table: nail time! We could choose from a wide range of Dior nail polishes and in the meanwhile also listen to professional tips & tricks. These ladies know what they are talking about! Moving on to the next table with facial care: different products & textures to test. Every pretty house needs a solid foundation people! Thoroughly cleansed skin can better withstand all the make-up madness. At the last table things got serious: make-up. Here it was very important to listen attentively to the instructions if you didn't want to end up as Two-Face. One half done by the professionals and next it was your turn. Starting with a proper foundation, a highlighter around the eye area, some fixating powder, moving on to eyeliner and eyeshadow, and finishing with some appealing lipgloss. Et voila, allurement all around.

With success and my mouth full of scrumptious sandwiches, this enlightening evening came to an end. On top of that we could go home with a goodie basket and prolong the pampering some more. I also bought a dior topcoat nail polish, fast drying nails? Yes please! You can visit the Ici Paris XL Mechelen facebook page or general Ici Paris XL page for more information and regular updates on special offers & discounts.

Conclusion: bring on the beauty workshops!

Naomi in Wonderland.

Wearing: WE cardigan / Primark dress / Lily belt / Lily boots

If I was going to a garden party to celebrate my unvacation, this is the outfit I would be wearing. I never had a taste for the 'waterfall' phenomenon until I spotted this pretty dress in Primark last summer. And what do you know, the dress goes perfectly with my snazzy knee-high boots; fashion fate! What a party indeed when the wind is blowing softly and makes your skirt flutter. I sometimes put on skirts just to twirl around without a care in world. But after a few moments it all comes back to me.. A very, very unvacation for me, for me!

I'm off to make some tea.

Enjoy the little things.

Yes, I'm still alive but not so much kicking as exams are taking all of my energy. Naomi is currently being my blogger life-saver, lucky girl having no exams but then again a thesis... Quite sure the both of us are going to jump up and down in september if it's all overrrr.

An outfit post is out of the question ladies and gents unless you want to see me appearing on the blog for the upcoming weeks in joggings, 2 different socks (yes, somehow I always lose one of my pairs) and a plain t-shirt?! Not so fashionable at all if I may say. My hair is mostly wrapped up in a bun these days and doing so I like to add once and a while something extra.

It made me think that during this awful period I'm always super excited when it's lunch-, dinner-, shower- and bedtime. Pathetic, you think?! I see it as enjoying the little things that make your day so much better :-). With the nice weather arriving finally, enjoying my lunches and dinners outside is even better. Studying outside is totally out of the question because my discipline and concentration gets lost for sure.

My lunches are mostly light and salads are the ideal solution for it. This time I opt for a tomato/mozarella/cucumber salad with fresh basil, chili pepper, pepper/salt, olive oil and a fresh apple juice on the side. YUM. As a snack I do like them cherries.

For those who can go wild in the sun and do crazy, exciting stuff, enjoy!!

Cheers,
Sabrina, x.

Eco-friendly Fashion

Since I've started studying Biology almost five years ago - I can feel the wrinkles creeping up - I've become increasingly aware of the environmental state of our planet. In case you didn't know, it's ridiculously alarming. Whenever I see initiatives that are concerned with environmental issues or try to create a sustainable project, I'm all ears (or eyes in this case). It won't be long before I'll star as an eco-warrior myself! ;)

So what's new in fashion world? Because above all I'm delighted when I see eco-friendly projects coming from an industry that isn't very compatible with the environment at first sight.

Tiany Kiriloff hands out tips for second-hand shopping

Tiany with her second-hand catch

Thousands of heavenly designer pieces await you lovelies. Miss Kiriloff has been second-hand shopping online for several years and oh boy has it paid off, literally! On the 2dehands.be website you can find over 675.000 clothing items daily, so are you ready to dig up the designer gems? If you're not quite sure how to get started, here you can read Tiany's tips and tricks.
Buying new clothes is so old-fashioned. There are some things, however, that you better buy first-hand.

Amazonian Wild Rubber Collection

The Lily Cole collection

Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, the first environmental issue I remember being taught. Nowadays it's still a big issue and several organisations, such as Sky Rainforest Rescue, are delivering hard work for the protection of the remaining ecosystem on a daily basis.
Since this week you can support the world's most important rainforest by buying a piece of fashionable (and sustainable!) rubber. Stylist Pick is the site to be! But which piece to buy, what would you pick?

Angelheart

For sale on Astrid's website

You can never have enough jewellery, especially eco-friendly jewellery. Angelheart donates some of its annual profits to the
Save the Rhino project. Last year more than 668 rhinos were killed in Africa, the species is getting more endangered every day. Several (Belgian) celebs were already spotted with an Angelheart necklace, will you be the next? You can find the collection in Lila Grace (Antwerp); Bleu, C'est Gris (Ghent); Bush Bazar (Hasselt),...

I hope I inspired you to do some eco-friendly shopping yourself!
