Nail it: FW2012 colors

I must admit, I'm a real nail polish addict and let's face it, which girl doesn't like some lacquer on her nails?

The FW2012 color trends I've spotted are to die for. Beauty-lovers who like to take the adventurous highway, there are some amazing dark and warm shades such as burgundy, blue-ish and purple. O.P.I has some lovely dark colors in store fore you! Are you more a natural-girl, well do we have some good news for you: winter will pamper you with different shades of nude and Deborah Lippmann launched a nice one. Last but not least, metallic colors are HOT and nail polish-queen Essie launched a Mirror Metallics-collection.

My mom went to France for work and what did she take with her? Just what I thought, a big part of the nail polish collection. It's like fate is telling me: time to buy some new shades. Anywhoo, on my holiday last month I bought 4 new colors to add to my collection and they match perfectly in the FW2012 trends.

A timeless color is without a doubt a romantic red! It goes with a little black dress or a casual outfit. This Red Mistress from Essie is not too dark, not too light. Just perfect.

Let's Essie on: I also bought a creamy semi-light blue shade that goes by the name of Mezmerised. It's one of my all time favorite colors. What i like about this label is that it dries sooo quickly. For someone like me, with not too much patience, that's a good thing.

Armed and Ready? Yes that's my 3rd Essie color. This creamy and soft army green with a touch of pearl goes with lots of outfits and colors such as gold (coincidence?), black, blue, red, orange and grey.

I must say, black is a main color in my closet and accessories. Open my closet and you'll notice a contrast of colors: black or very bright. So this Chanel black satin will come in handy anyway. If you match it with the right clothes, your hands will show elegance all the way

Let's go nail polish!

Burgundy & black.

I'm so easy to trick, seriously. All of a sudden my favourite colors of the past year were pastel and right now I'm really digging burgundy. Coincidence? I think not. But hey I don't mind, I've learned to live with it. Mainstream movies? Check! Mainstream music? Check! Mainstream clothing? Check! All aboard the mainstream train! Okay, I'll stop with the M-word now. Secretly, I always feel a bit edgy when my opinion doesn't match the 'Hot or not?' section in Flair.

I wore this outfit to the LabelLOV event and the presentation of the 'From B to A' S/S 13 collection of Jean-Paul Lespagnard. Busy evenings when you're rolling with Golden Ebony. Belmodo was at the LabelLOV event as well and they brought a "Le Madame" Delvaux bag. Since my modest student budget doesn't allow me to buy such a beauty, could you please vote for my picture? HURRY!

Me being a tough motorchick, not exactly the right outfit though. I couldn't even ride my bike properly with this dress. Hard not to feel stupid when that happens. Sidesaddling it was! I'll leave the motorstuff to Vivacious Ginger next time ;).

You like my beatles? Originally they were gold when I saw them a couple of years ago but a friend overheard me say I would like them more in black (sorry Golden Ebony) and tadaa I now have customized earrings. If my nana gives the green light to my plan, a DIY sweater is on the way! Stay tuned.

Wearing: Earrings - costumized H&M / Blazer - H&M / Dress - Primark / Bracelet - Jimmy Choo for H&M / Bag - Primark / Boots - Van Haren.

Brussels Fashion Days

Let's say I had a super mini Fashion Week-experience yesterday evening in Brussels. What's not to love about 10 000m² full of fashion?

I had 2 tickets so I asked our lovely Vivacious Ginger (aka Elke) to come along to BRUSSELS FASHION DAYS at The Egg in Brussels, and oh my what an amazing night it was! My co-worker Siel from Belmodo joined us as well with her friend Nina. A girls night out!

If you adore Belgian fashion, this is the place to be. The evening was filled with creations of Belgian designers and fashion photography. If you followed the fashion weeks in Paris and Milaan, you definitely have to go to BFD because you get the opportunity to enjoy several fashion shows such as Natan, Elvis Pompilio, Sandrina Fasoli, OMSK, Jean-Paul Knott and Marc-Philippe Coudeyre

And we must admit, Natan did it again. His collection was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! The colors bright pink, coral, white and yellow gave us immediately a happy feeling.

There was also an exhibition of 50 different designers, well-known and upcoming talent. Clothing and accessoires, they had it all! You can admire works of The Cookie Therapy, Natan, Olivia Hainaut, Fabienne Delvigne, Romain Brau and many more!

And there is no such thing as a fashion event without getting pampered! The Make Up For Ever Academy was also present. The 4 of us got a makeup indulgence. Very relaxing, just sitting there and let the pro's do their work.

The food- and drinkcorner was also very good. A limited choice of dishes, but believe me it looked delishhhh! Yummy salads, amazing sushi and several hot dishes. With a glass of bubbly, just perfect!

If you love fashion and a night out in the capital city, then we recommend Brussels Fashion Days. It was their first event ever, and in my point of view: a success! If you didn't had the chance to go yesterday, don't worry because it's still going on: until Sunday. Yayyy!

Enjoy the weekend fashion-lovers!

Stars & stripes.

The past seven weeks a scarf is permanently glued to my neck. Unfortunately it's not a fashion statement but a bare necessity, since I spent the end of this 'summer' in colder regions. The latest addition to my modest scarf collection comes from a gas station. You never know where your next piece of clothing is coming from, I tell ya! I was actually drooling over this outfit from the beautiful Betty a couple days before. It must be faith or so I tell myself, soothing for my conscience.

These pictures were shot last week when Autumn was still kind to us, rain go away! I must warn you, posing for a blog is awkward. Expect a lot of goofy pictures, they make me feel more at ease. My number one pose: thumbs up! Maybe I'll make a random collage sometime, you'll feel the positivity coming your way ;).

I'm smitten with these quirky shoes. They remind me of old school hiking boots, so they speak to my inner biologist. Aren't they the perfect hybrid between fashion and biology? I love combining two realms that seem irreconcilable.

I'm actually really surprised that my first outfitpost doesn't include a single animal print! Don't get used to it.

Wearing: Scarf - gas station / Necklace - Deep Devotion / Top - H&M / Shirt - Primark / Jeans - Levis / Pumps: Van Haren.

PUMPKIN soup!

Autumn days are here!  I absolutely love the beautiful scenery and the coloring of the leaves. It even lets me forget (if only for a second) the awful cold temperatures that come along with it.
So what better way of spending a lazy Sunday afternoon than enjoying the autumn view from inside your (warm) house while making a delicious PUMPKIN soup! As easy as can be, healthy, diet friendly and ECO-friendly since pumpkins are autumn vegetables!
So here’s the recipe:

What you NEED:
1.    Pumpkins ( off course! ), Use 1 and 1/2
2.    Potatoes, 4 big ones (the more, the thicker the soup will be)
3.    According to flavor: onion, tomatoes, any vegetables you like (I didn’t  add complementary vegetables)
4.    Bouillon
5.    Water, 2.5 L if you want a thicker soup (a lunch replacing soup), if not use 3-3.5L
6.    To add extra flavor at the end, some cream and/or parsley

What you DO:
Chop all the vegetables in big chunks, as we will mix afterwards there’s no need of spending extra time cutting them in little pieces! Stove for about 2min with some olive oil. Add water and Bouillon. Let it simmer for about 30-45min. Mix, add some salt/pepper/cream/parsley/croutons according to preference. And as for the most important part of the entire recipe sit back, relax and ENJOY!
Maximum result, minimum effort!
