Friday Food | Good family food

When you're having evening meals with a big family, the easiest way to make something is an oven dish. That's what we did today: chicken roast with lots of veggies on the side.

Ingredients

6 or 7 carrots
4 whole garlic cloves
1 leek
2 shallots
8 or 9 potatoes
8 chicories
250gr of mushrooms
2 whole chickens

How to make it

It's really, really, reaaaally easy! Chop all the vegetables in big chunks and put them all in a casserole except for your chicories. Add your garlic cloves complete with their shell, I promise you, they are de-lissssh! I added also some fresh thyme.

Next: chickens. This is my little secret for an amazing chicken roast. Actually it's my mom's secret. So if you're having a lot of people over, you don't have a lot of time and you want something healthy and delicious? Chicken in a bag! You're probably thinking: WHUT?! But it's true. In the bigger supermarkets they sell special packages (Knorr and Maggie have those) with an oven bag and a little bag with herbs and other seasoning. You put the chicken in a one of those bags and add all the seasoning to it. If you want to go seasoning crazy you can add extra but that's actually really not necessary. Put your chicken(s) in another casserole, et voila. We had 1 with lime seasoning and 1 with garlic seasoning. Chickens and vegetables go in the oven for 1 hour 30 minutes on 180°.

Chop all of your chicories in half and put them in a big pan. Add olive oil, pepper and salt and let them simmer on low heat for a while until they get somewhat caramelized.

Finally serve as you want, we just left everything in their casserole, like a real family meal and it was yuuuuummm!

Bon appetit,
Sabrina, x.
